About the lecture:The history and literature of Greece are
known to us through the study of a variety of media ranging from
Mycenaean clay tablets and stone inscriptions to papyri and medieval
manuscripts.
Modern technologies have provided us with new ways to preserve and
analyze this
information and expand our research and understanding of the Greek
culture.
This lecture will present a historical overview of media and methodologies
designed to
analyze and preserve 2500 years of documentary and literary tradition
with special
emphasis on new information technologies and electronic text databases.
