Lecture topic:"Cyril and Methodius. The Gift of Script and Art to the Slavs"
The creation of the written "Slavic" language by the Thessalonians Cyril and Methodius
meant the implantation of Byzantine Art to the Slavs. The illuminated manuscript becomes the
main vehicle of this event, but not the only one, of which the Russians profited most.
Eventually, the implantation takes the form of influences. The process can be followed in
extant Slavonic manuscripts down to the 15th century.
